‘Sen iyisimi bulutları düşün’ , müze koleksiyonundaki tahta bir kayığın boşluklarına yatay olarak yerleştirilmiş dört parça cam plakadan oluşuyor. Cam parçaların üzerinde bulut kümeleri boyalı.
Cam, suskun görünür ama kumdan yapıldığından içinde denizin hikayelerini taşır…..görünürde dingindir ama aslında hikayeleri akışkan ve kırılgandır.
Yerleştirmede bir araya gelen durgun bir su birikintisine eş camın pürüzsüzlüğü, bulutların yumuşak ve yuvarlak hareketleri, sandalın zarif hatları, ahşabın üzerinde zamanın oluşturduğu izler bize ayrı ayrı yaşamlardan söz ediyor.
Doğası gereği şiirsel bir tarihçeye sahip kayığın içerisine yerleşen bu çok yönlü iş, aynı zamanda kayığın ilk sahibi de olan Orhan Veli’nin ‘Dalgacı Mahmut’ şiirinden yola çıkıyor. Şairin yaptığı gibi, deniz ve bulutuların metaforik temsillerinden yararlanıyor. Onları yeni bir yolculuğa çıkararak artık gidecek yeri olmayan bu kayığa taze bir nefes üflemeye çalışıyor.
Öyle bir nefes ki, heybelerinde iyi bir hayatın ümitleri, kayıklarla denizlere açılanlara güç olsun…..
‘Better think of the clouds‘ is formed by four plates of glass horizontally placed in the gaps, between the seats of the boat. Cloud formations are painted on the pieces of glass.
Glass is made of sand and inspite of it’s silent appearence, carries the stories of the sea inside…..it’s stance is still and firm but the reality of glass is that it is fluid and fragile.
Being brought together in this installation, the flawless surface of the glass, akin to a pool of still water, the soft and circular movements of the clouds, the elegant form of the old wooden boat, the signs time has left on the wood talk to us of many different lives.
This multifaceted piece installed into the interior of this boat which, naturally has a poetic history, took its cue from a poem titled ‘Mahmut The Daydreamer’,
written Orhan Veli, who is also the original owner of the boat.
Like the poet, it draws on metaphoric representations of the sea and clouds but takes them on a new journey. By doing so, tries to blow a fresh breath into this boat which doesn’t have a place to go to anymore. A kind of breath providing
strength to those who sail off to the seas carrying the hopes of a good life in their sacks.
